Shari goes above and beyond daily to ensure that her patients are well cared for. She is always kind, patient, caring, thorough, and willing to help wherever she is needed. One example that comes to mind is Shari going to great lengths to make sure a patient who had recently been discharged from Inpatient Rehab had quick access to the medication he needed. Shari noticed that a patient who had been discharged the previous day had not taken one of his paper prescriptions home with him. She spent the better part of her morning speaking with physicians, calling the patient, and contacting the patient’s pharmacy. She faxed over the needed paperwork and spoke with the patient multiple times to confirm that he knew how and when to take his medications. Shari could have just dismissed this, as the patient had already been discharged from her care. But thanks to her attention to detail, she was able to resolve a situation that had the potential to become a big issue had the patient not been taking the medication he needed.

This is just one small example of the many things Shari does to ensure that her patients are happy, healthy, and well cared for. Her positive attitude and encouragement make the workplace brighter. I feel that Shari deserves to receive the DAISY Award to recognize her hard work and dedication. I want her to know how much she is appreciated and that she makes a big difference in our hospital and in our community. We are so lucky to have Shari as a part of our family here at SCCH!
