Compassionate care comes naturally to her because she is an empathetic and caring individual.
Grace Lee epitomizes everything the DAISY Award stands for, and nursing is definitely her calling. Grace is one of the most caring, compassionate nurses at New England Sinai Hospital. She lives up to her name of Grace, whether working with patients, communicating with families, or helping new nurses acclimate to the job. Grace Lee is a nurse's nurse. As an experienced RN, Grace is a preceptor and mentor to newer nurses, providing them with exceptional knowledge to prepare them for long-term acute care nursing.
Compassionate care comes naturally to her because she is an empathetic and caring individual. She is always there for her patients; they are not just somebody in a bed but a whole human being who is suffering and needs help. She forges connections with the patients and staff easily because of her even-tempered and professional demeanor.
She takes her time to give the best care to the patients. The Infectious Disease Physician Assistant remembers watching her with a patient who needed to have his wounds cleaned. Knowing that any movement brought pain, Grace made sure to bring him pain medication early enough so that it would mitigate the pain. She carefully watched his face as he was turned so she could monitor his pain level and make sure that he remained comfortable.
