Eddie is one of the kindest and most caring nurses on this unit. He is always ready to jump into tough situations and be a helping hand, a comforting voice, and a strong patient advocate. One specific instance that made me want to nominate Eddie was when he chose to “primary” a patient with a fatal diagnosis and a short lifespan. The patient’s family only spoke Spanish, and Eddie is fluent in Spanish, so his decision was made to provide love, compassion, and comfort to this family during an extremely difficult time. I know his contribution to this patient’s final days will last with them forever. He is such a bright light on this unit, and the NICU unit and Memorial Hermann are lucky to have him!!!

Eddie exudes all the qualities of a caring, intelligent, funny, and efficient nurse. As a coworker, he is the best you could hope for. He is always worried about others, and ensuring they are cared for (work-wise and emotionally). He is a pleasure to work with, and we are beyond lucky to get that privilege! He also chose to primary a kid who had a deadly diagnosis. He came in on his day off to be with the family when the baby was passing. This is just a tiny example of the quality care he provides.
