On our unit, nearly half of our patients have a barrier to discharge and have resided with us for months. Shannon has gone above and beyond for these patients. Shannon has spent her own personal money in obtaining personal care items for these patients. For example: we have a patient who is homeless and has been with us for three months, with nowhere to go. Shannon has brought in flowers, and personal care baskets and even bought him bedroom slippers. This patient doesn’t have family or visitors and he talks very highly of Shannon. Not only does this make Shannon an extraordinary nurse, but it also shows what kind of person she is. She has a heart of gold and is truly one of the most caring people I know.
