Justin was patient, and understanding and made me feel comfortable every step of the way.
Justin was the best nurse I’ve ever had. He was compassionate, professional, and exceedingly kind. Justin was patient, and understanding and made me feel comfortable every step of the way. He made my stay after a major operation much less scary and stressful. He explained everything he was doing before he did it. He explained medications, procedures, and aftercare. I was lucky to have Justin as my nurse nearly every day of my stay and I feel grateful to have been his patient.
I felt relieved every evening when he said he would see me tomorrow. During my stay, I had a colostomy and catheter for the first time in my life. Justin never made me feel embarrassed, ashamed, or uncomfortable about needing help with anything. He had to remove and replace my catheter a few times. Justin made a very uncomfortable situation where I was very vulnerable and exposed seem like no big deal. He was gentle, and sensitive, and took his time to explain everything to me. Justin also did everything at my pace.
With everything from dealing with the catheter to shots he went at my pace and if I asked him to stop or give me a minute he would immediately. He made a very hard time much better. He treated me with respect, understanding, and kindness in every interaction. Justin was focused on every aspect of my care and well-being. He made sure I was eating enough, moving enough, and was on the appropriate amount of pain medication. He explained and encouraged me to do what was best for me and not what was necessarily the easiest option.
I was diagnosed with cancer and in that time I have interacted with dozens of nurses. Of all of them, Justin was simply the best. I never felt like an inconvenience or a bother. I felt respected and cared for every step of the way. There is a very important balance between personal and professional; Justin has mastered this. These things I’ve described may not seem like a big deal but as a patient, they make all of the difference. I hope Justin understands how much his care meant to me. Justin is the nurse I hope every patient gets.
