This situation could have become critical if it were not for Joanna's persistence.
Joanna Rankin is one of F9's most dedicated nurses. She takes excellent care of her patients, has precepted many new nurses on the floor as well as charge nurses, and volunteers for projects outside of UAMS.
One night during the week when she was charge, she received report during shift change that a patient was coming as a direct admit. At 8pm, the patient had not arrived and, Joanna noticed that the patient had been admitted to the room in Epic. She verified with the assigned nurse that the patient had not arrived nor had the nurse heard anything about the patient. Joanna and other staff went to the admissions area, the waiting area and called imaging but did not find the patient. Joanna came back to this patient's chart and found a MyChart message from him around 8 pm asking if his room was ready. Joanna contacted the ADON and the staff in the PACU, who found the patient in a family waiting room and brought him to F9. Upon getting to his room, he required care to clear his airway. This situation could have become critical if it were not for Joanna's persistence. The patient later told us how grateful he was that Joanna and the F9 staff were so determined to try to find him. Thank you. Great job, Joanna!
