She kept me calm, controlled my pain, involved me in my care, and talked to me through every step leading up to my discharge. Teine showed me true compassion and empathy.
Being a patient is a very unfamiliar experience for a healthcare provider. During a recent experience, I was lucky enough to have Teine as my nurse in PACU. The care and patience that was shown to me was nothing short of amazing. Not only did I feel well cared for, but I felt she met all of my needs, some of which I didn't realize I would have at the time. I had a total hysterectomy, and as a surgical patient, you often feel exposed and very vulnerable. With my procedure, as a young mom, I definitely had feelings of sadness and inadequacy. When you add in anxiety, all the moments leading up to the procedure became very unsettling. After surgery, with Teine as my nurse, I finally had a moment when I realized I was okay and there was no reason to be scared and anxious. She kept me calm, controlled my pain, involved me in my care, and talked to me through every step leading up to my discharge. Teine showed me true compassion and empathy. I was not her only patient that day, and I could tell that no matter who was in that bed, they were receiving the same amazing care that I was. She exemplifies all of the characteristics of an amazing nurse. The kind of nurse you want caring for you and your loved ones. SRMC is so lucky to have her!
