As a nurse leader, Megan is able to connect with associates and develop trusting relationships. She quickly assesses new hires and develops individual plans to ensure their clinical success.
Megan is the cardiac service line educator and key member of our professional development team. Before taking on this role Megan was a bedside nurse and in charge in our organization for a number of years. That prior experience allows her to excel in the professional development role as she truly understands our nursing practice and also has empathy and respect for the work the nursing teams are responsible for. As a nurse leader, Megan is able to connect with associates and develop trusting relationships. She quickly assesses new hires and develops individual plans to ensure their clinical success. I continue to be impressed with Meganā€˜s ability to adjust her teaching and communication style as she works tirelessly to onboard new team members and provide continued support to dedicated staff in her educator role. Megan quickly took on the challenge of learning new skill sets and patient populations. She is truly viewed as an expert by her teams and her cardiac providers. Megan did this so she could provide one-on-one skills to educate her team, and ensure they are prepared for and can successfully provide care to their complex cardiac patient population. As we collectively work to increase our nursing workforce, new hire onboarding and precepting have been identified as a key area focus. Our new team members require a different approach with onboarding. As a result, Megan worked closely with her professional development team to design and implement a new preceptor model, that better suits our new nurses, and allows them to integrate quickly into their work. We are so lucky to have Megan on our teams.
