Without a nurse like Ricky that night, honestly, I would have probably hit my breaking point. I seriously cannot thank you enough for helping my kid, who was the patient, but to add an adult to their floor to save me and help me get through this.
I am truly proud to be writing this formal letter as I speak in the hospital bed, which replaced the crib my son was supposed to sleep in for another night alone in your hospital. I have maybe slept about 4 hours in the last four days in all seriousness. I was teetering on the wits of overwhelming anxiety of my son screaming louder than he ever had in my life to where I could admit I wanted to break down and just cry. It has been a rough week and an even harder second night, but the action and attentiveness to our every need from when we walked into our room on the pediatric floor.
I could literally write a novel on how amazing the feeling was after what they had done Thursday night just before midnight, and seemed as if it was a quiet night for the floor. My son and his vocals were definitely one for the books and I’m sure everyone from patients to parents to all staff would attest to it. My fiancé said she could hear our son crying even after the point of exiting the double doors to the elevators. My son is fussy in nature and truly only took kindly to a few members of the hospital. They could see where I was at and when they checked in to see if they could help, they already knew and did it beyond anything I could imagine lol, mind you within five minutes of seeing my face and listening to me just talking in a zombie state, dazed, mortified from what was transpiring as my son was yelling, crying, screaming beyond what I could only picture it like from a movie, it was horrendous.
Ricky and his coworker jumped into action and knew the only way they could help their patient and not disrupt the floor, they took me on like a patient. They literally made an exception and truly accommodated what I never in my mind would think would happen. They changed how I look at service and representation of a renowned hospital to the highest level I could imagine. Ricky and crew got my baby from the worst to the most peaceful state in a matter of 15 min. I kid you not; I’m blown away in tears that they truly did EVERYTHING in their power to serve and treat the patients that walk in. I would drive from Irvine to come to this hospital if my kids were to ever get sick again, knowing this is the level this hospital has as its standard, and without a nurse like Ricky that night, honestly, I would have probably hit my breaking point. I seriously cannot thank you enough for helping my kid, who was the patient, but to add an adult to their floor to save me and help me get through this. This is my first child, and I don’t see anything topping this in any situation I have dealt with, nor do I see anything in the future being attended to like this.
This is not only to say he’s an amazing employee, but he defines what a nurse truly is, and beyond exemplary, he is the nurse that every hospital needs. I’m still speechless and smiling from ear to ear. My son and I could not have gotten through this had we been anywhere else. I can swear up and down saying that because I know it’s true. I could not sleep until I shed some light on this remarkable experience.
