Ashleigh Draft:

I am writing to nominate a fantastic nurse who provided me with phenomenal care and assistance in NSICU. She is a valuable asset to this hospital and a role model to future nurses. It was unexpectedly found by her quick assessment that something was wrong with my breathing. I was then diagnosed with two blood clots in my lung. The doctor wanted me to be sent home with oxygen. Due to Ashleigh's determined and persistent help, we were able to get what we needed for Medicare help. She went above and beyond to help me get a successful treatment plan. She kept me calm and encouraged me that we would do all we could. She goes above and beyond and I appreciate her attentiveness.

Dear Dr. Hull (Stephen),

M and I would like to thank you again for the service that you provided to not only our daughter while she was under your care, but to our entire family. Losing our daughter was devastating to our family. But we could not have received more competent, compassionate care during her time in the ICU. You always took whatever time that was necessary to communicate very complex situations in ways that we could grasp. You answered all of our questions, even the tough ones, with patience and skill.

On her final day, you helped us understand what we were seeing and make the most difficult decisions we as parents have ever had to make. Thank you. As you continue your career, I know you will face many more difficult cases like you did with our daughter. I know you will bring the same level of care, competence, and compassion to them all. We were fortunate to have arrived at Grandview and come under your care. We are grateful to you and every single one of your colleagues who collaborated on her case. Thank you again and congratulations on being a new parent!

Emma Thomas, RN:

I had surgery to relieve pressure off of my brain on Tuesday. My recovery has taken a couple of ups and downs. My biggest recovery was a particular one night. Emma was able to make sure all of my breathing treatments were done on time. She also took extra care for my comfort. She was able to make my room calmer and quieter, easier for me to relax. She went beyond the call of nursing. It was the weekend and she was able to accomplish everything we needed, even things we didn’t. Her kindness and thoughtfulness made my recovery much faster and more pleasant. I looked forward to seeing her smile every time she came in.

Jennifer Murphree, RN:

We (my husband and me) were getting ready for a wedding that we traveled 9 hours for when I fell and broke my thumb and whacked my head—have some bleeding on the brain. I came here to Grandview instead of the wedding. Jennifer was our nurse over the weekend. She had such a pleasant spirit from the moment we met her. She really made our concerns her concerns. Brought ice and meds always on time.

In fact, every time I called for her, she was right there. She even made sure my husband had food and was comfortable. This put me at ease too. She communicated with us and with all the doctors involved. This sped up everything from the moment we got here till the moment we were discharged. She went out of her way for everything while making it look like it was her pleasure. She is a wonderful asset to Grandview and a wonderful nurse and person. She is a good example for us all. I felt you should know.
