Kyle was all the things listed above and more to me and my family during our stay. He was our son's day nurse for two of the three days of his stay. He was always looking for ways to make our time at the hospital better. He was professional but not afraid to get down to our son's level and make sure he understood what was going on with his care and gave him choices where he could offer them. He advocated so much for what our son needed and what we needed as parents.

We were not happy with the communication between us the parents and the doctors overseeing our son's care. So Kyle made it his mission to make sure all our questions were answered and that we were comfortable and ready to go home and take over our son's care. When he had nursing students with him, he would introduce them and then explain to all of us his plan of care and have the students get involved. All of the nurses we met on the PICU floor were amazing but Kyle stood out, his colleagues agreed, I wish I could do more to thank him, than just this award.
