It is quite overwhelming when you are on the other side of the bed as a patient. Other than the worry of knowing/discovering what is wrong with you, you also have to comprehend tests and procedures that need to be completed/done. Tom took this worry out of me when he explained everything I needed to know and to expect for my stress test. He patiently went through each step of the procedure, how it will be done, what is required of me to successfully complete it, how long it will take as well as options if I can’t complete the exercise part of the testing. He made sure I completely understood and was comfortable before they proceeded with the tests. As I waited for the next step of testing, I watched him approach each patient and patiently go through what he just explained to me. I feel that by doing this, he does not only put the patient’s mind at ease but also allows us to be an active part of the procedure and decision. This is not the first time I have had a stress test, but I felt it was so different from the previous ones I had. It was more efficient, and most importantly, I felt I was part of the process, not just as a patient but as an active partner in my care plan. Thank you, Tom, for making this huge difference!
