Brandy cared for me with so much compassion, attending to my physical needs and ensuring that my emotional needs were being met.
Hello, I had to have an unexpected second d&c in a two-week period after losing my son from a preterm birth. I was hospitalized afterward for sepsis due to a retained placenta, and I was recovering in the 4L unit during one of the most difficult, confusing, and darkest times in my life. Brandy cared for me with so much compassion, attending to my physical needs and ensuring that my emotional needs were being met. She made sure my partner, who did not leave my side, had everything he needed to be comfortable as well. I could see she was terribly busy and each time she came to assist me, she got another call where she was needed elsewhere, but she never lost patience with whomever was calling and never made me feel like she was rushed. Each time she asked me if I needed anything else, she ensured I felt safe and that I had everything I needed and made sure to tell me that I could ask her for anything. When she saw me weeping in the room, she addressed it with care, genuine compassion, and understanding. Though I know she must have been tired during her shifts, she never showed it; nurses like her deserve an award every single shift. Thank you, Brandy, for everything and for being so loving and caring for me during this tough time.
