I had originally planned on doing an at-home/natural birth. As things progressed it was evident, I needed an induction which eventually led me to having a c-section. Which, to me, was my absolute worst nightmare at the time. It was the exact opposite of my birth plan and what I had mentally and physically prepared for. My nurse team knew this. Not only did they mourn with me, but they also advocated for me and patiently exhausted every other option. I cried when I got the news that there was nothing left to do. And my nurse and midwife cried alongside me.

Tifeni reassured me everything would be okay by telling me her personal c-section story and how her children were delivered. She consistently checked on me every step of the way, but not in a nurse-to-patient way, but in a loving motherly friendship type of way.

She was able to give me so much advice as a mother and person who had previously had a c-section. Thankfully, she was assigned as my nurse the following evening as well. She cared for me and my baby as if we were family, even though we had known her less than 24 hours. I think without the help of our amazing nursing team, I would’ve been even more of an emotional wreck than I already was. The experience was intense, but I had so much faith in my care team that it wasn’t a traumatic one. I’m able to walk away so grateful to have a healthy son and so much support from my nurses at Chambersburg Hospital.
