Trina is a true example of compassion and caring! ICU received a John Doe patient who was s/p cardiac arrest. Trina did all she could to identify this male patient. A media release was posted as well as fingerprinting. There were different people who came forward who recognized him but still couldn’t find his family. A name and ID were found, and the team reviewed past medical records and found a contact number for his mom. Mom was contacted and was asked to come and identify him, but she didn’t recognize him (they had been estranged for many years and he was much thinner). ICU decided to wait until Monday to turn off the vent, but fingerprint results were still pending. On Tuesday the fingerprint results came back and matched the patient. Mom was notified that he was indeed her son. She was approached by LifeGift about organ donation, and the mom agreed to the organ donation. The patient was a potential for several organs & tissue. Trina was instrumental in identifying a patient and giving his mom closure, which also impacted several others through the gift of organ donation.
