I felt extremely confident that my mother was in the exceptional hands of a wonderful, caring soul; the amount of comfort that she gave me cannot be understated.
Recently, my mother was a patient in your SICU. In addition to having Burr Hole surgery for evacuation of her enlarging subdural hematoma, she has moderate dementia. Her baseline is confused. I could not have asked for my mother to be under the care of a better nurse than Whitney. Whitney was perfect for my mother. She was kind, compassionate, patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and innovative in the way she cared for and comforted my mother. While I would say that Whitney consistently went above and beyond in the care she rendered, I also feel this was her natural approach to caring for her patients. For example, whenever my mother woke up, she forgot she was in the hospital. She was very distressed, thinking she had been dropped off at a motel. Whitney made a sign with large print that my mother could read. The sign simply said, “You’re in the hospital. K knows.” While some might dismiss that as one small gesture, it was an immense comfort to my mother. Brilliant and much-appreciated idea, Whitney! I felt extremely confident that my mother was in the exceptional hands of a wonderful, caring soul; the amount of comfort that she gave me cannot be understated. I am an RN with over 30 years of experience at Hackensack University Medical Center. I can sincerely say Whitney has one of the best bedside approaches I have seen. I truly feel she is a DAISY Nurse. .
