She was also his biggest advocate making sure he was progressing appropriately without putting him over the edge - it is hard to be a baby when you are born so early!
Our son was born unexpectedly at 30 weeks and immediately taken to the NICU. Although we had spent a few days in another NICU with our daughter a few years prior, we had no idea what to expect with the long stay we were about to embark on with our son. Enter Jodi. Jodi was so kind and gentle and welcoming from the start. It is nearly impossible to describe the pain and helplessness of seeing your tiny child in a box with a million machines and wires hooked up to their tiny fragile body. Yet somehow Jodi was able to answer all our questions while lightening the mood and making us feel confident that we would walk out of the room with a healthy baby one day. Over the next 53 days, we looked forward to every day Jodi was our son's nurse. Her patience is legendary; I am fairly certain she answered about 1 million questions with a smile on her face. She was our boy's biggest cheerleader helping him reach every milestone and celebrating with us along the way. It gave me so much peace to know our son was in the best hands possible when we weren't there with Jodi; he was always dressed to the nines, and loved on by her. She was also his biggest advocate making sure he was progressing appropriately without putting him over the edge - it is hard to be a baby when you are born so early! Honestly, I don't think any of us would've come out of this ordeal as unscathed as we did without Jodi as our primary nurse. She is truly one in a million!
