Lindsey started her career as a nurse here on the pediatric medical surgical unit and has been a unit supervisor for many years now. The team looks to Lindsey for personal, emotional, and clinical support because she leads with her heart in everything she does. This particular act of service was just so amazing to see the joy it brought the team, patient, and family!

We had a 14-year-old who was admitted after being injured at a soccer game, and this little guy lived, ate, and breathed soccer, especially DC United! He had remained on our floor for almost a month. Lindsey came to me and said, "I have a friend at DC United. Is it ok if I reach out to see if we can get him a jersey signed?" I was taken back by her thoughtfulness and dedication to our patients. Lindsey reached out and was able to get not only a signed jersey but a "swag bag," and the patient knew just what this was with his excitement when presented to him, but also tickets for him and his whole family to attend a game as honored guests with everything taken care of for them, including a chance to meet the players after the game. We got permission from his mom to celebrate this in a big way when giving him this gift. We organized and were able to have a whole team of nurses who cared for this sweet boy and captured everything on video for him to have forever. The joy in this little boy's face was nothing short of amazing, and words cannot describe the joy this brought him in such a hard time of his life.

The way Lindsey impacted his life will last with him far after he goes home, and far after that game. She showed him compassion past the expectations of a nurse, and truly was invested in just bringing him joy in a time he had so many reasons not to have that joy. Every shift Lindsay goes above and beyond for her team and patients. She truly stands for everything the DAISY Award stands for.
