Nat not only serves as a role model for nurses within our hospital, but he also serves as a role model on a national level. Nat was recently called to assist with setting up a mobile hospital and patient identification in the disaster area of Hawaii that was devastated by the wildfires. This work was physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. Nat provided care for 16 hours a day for an entire 3-week period, helping identify deceased patients as well as providing nursing services for the team. Nat was called on a Monday and left to assist in the disaster area on Tuesday. Being such a fantastic leader, his team was able to function relatively independently while he was away. He empowers team members to find a solution when a problem is identified to promote team member satisfaction and team member independence. Not only does Nat serve in this national capacity but he brings knowledge of disaster management back to our community to better help our community in our times of need.
