Lemuel or "Lem" has worked for me for almost a full year now. He took a small break over the summer and was then asked to return to Northern Regional by P the ICU manager directly. Lem often tells me how much he loves working for P and how great things are at Northern. He tells me that he is so thankful that I called him, and he got this amazing opportunity. He kindly asked me before how he could send me flowers or after knowing we spend weekends at the lake near his home if he could take me to lunch. Not only does he care for his patients, but Lem is the true embodiment of "family first". He has 5 children and has been able to provide a life for them by means of travel, which he tells me he never thought was possible. Every time he is up for an extension, he speaks with his family first to make sure this is still working for them.

Aside from being an amazing person and so thoughtful and kind, he's an amazing nurse. Here are some comments from Patty the ICU manager at Northern Regional:

"Lem has had multiple comments from the Critical Care Staff that were placed in our “YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE” box in the ICU breakroom. I have had compliments from patients regarding how caring he is and his compassion for patients. He has had a positive impact on staff in many departments just because of how kind he is and because of his Nursing knowledge and skills.

I would love to assist in nominating Lem. He looks ahead each time he works to see if there’s a need and often works extra shifts to help cover staffing. He is always willing to work in any unit to help. I do not think we have ever met someone as nice and positive as he has been. He has impacted staff morale in a positive way, especially by saying how blessed we are to have an administrative team and Manager who cares about the staff, working conditions, and patient safety the way we do here at NRH.

I wish I had a few more like him. It would make this the best place ever to work!"
