She immediately made me feel more relaxed, and we were even able to smile and laugh during our time together.
Kery was my nurse while I was in labor. From the beginning, I felt comfortable and, more importantly, safe within Kery’s care. Kery, from the start, had a calming nature about her, which made the overall experience for me, my husband, and my family that much more special during the birth of our first child. One thing that Kery did was explain to me every single thing she was doing, from the monitors we had up and what they meant, when she distributed every dose of pitocin and the next steps as I was dilating. At one point, she even took time to explain every single step of labor, not just minute by minute, but second by second. She explained thoroughly who would be in the room, when, and what their purpose for me and my baby would be. She also explained all possible outcomes, such as if labor stalled or if my baby had to go to the NICU. This shows her true level of expertise in her field. I felt more prepared and confident when it came time to push, all thanks to Kery and the level of knowledge and understanding she passed to me.

Kery also had an outstanding bedside manner. She immediately made me feel more relaxed, and we were even able to smile and laugh during our time together. At the end of her shift, she came and held my hand and even came in for a hug. That level of care was unmatched and shows her true compassion for her patients.

How Kery went even further above and beyond was by coming to visit me the next day while I was in a different unit (postpartum) just to check in on me, my care and healing, as well as meet my baby. Kery came in to visit me in street clothing because she had come out of her way from training after hours and off the clock just to check on me. To me, that was the ultimate expression of care - going in to check on a patient off the clock, in a different unit, just to check-in.

To say that I felt compassion and care is an understatement. This was all because Kery took the time to not only share her expertise with me, but also her love for her job and patients. Kery is a true DAISY Nurse.
