She understood that each patient has their own set of experiences and preferences and she specifically wanted to cater to what suited me best and was genuinely interested in how I felt.
Bridget 5H Neuro PCU I had brain tumor surgery and was admitted for several days post-op. Bridget was one of the many amazing nurses who aided me in my recovery. She would remember specific things I preferred about my care, such as how I liked my ice packs and cold water. She made a specific effort to ask me how she could best care for me and help relieve the very intense pain I was in, and she advocated for me and offered to talk to my surgical team to make sure my pain was being managed the best it could be. She understood that each patient has their own set of experiences and preferences and she specifically wanted to cater to what suited me best and was genuinely interested in how I felt. I really appreciated how she was so willing to listen to me and stay very on top of my medication schedule throughout the night. Thanks to her help during the night shift, my pain improved, and I was able to make even more progress the next day. Upon her return the following evening, I felt greatly comforted knowing I had her help again. She was also very encouraging and would make an effort to give me kudos on the things I was making progress on. I noticed she also communicated very well with her team, and this made my transitions between the other nurses very easy.
