This nurse is outstanding and goes above and beyond to give her patients the care they need and deserve. No matter what kind of day she has, she carries a smile that truly touches the heart. We recently had a patient who was from India and didn't speak any English. He came here for work when he had a medical emergency. Being in the hospital is frightening for anyone, but imagine being so far from home and unable to communicate. The patient became so agitated, and he was placed in restraints to ensure he didn't worsen his situation. The first time this nurse cared for this patient, her caring heart went to work, and she did what she did best: to give the most outstanding care, patience, and love. Before her intervention, I heard the patient frequently shouting and getting very agitated. I noticed a huge difference in him once she had a couple of days with the patient. She thought the restraints might add to his fear of being in the hospital worse and slowly eased away from the need for them. This nurse spent much time sitting at the bedside with the patients while working on her laptop to ensure he didn't feel alone or mess with his medical devices. She went the extra mile to get the patient an iPad so he could listen to music and watch movies in his native language. She also arranged with management to have a safety sitter for the patient so he could continue going without the restraints. Afterward, he was like an entirely different patient, calm and smiling when I entered his room. This nurse had the option to rotate this patient with other nurses, but she chose to stay with him. She is a phenomenal nurse who recognized that she was impacting the patient and wanted to continue being his nurse. She is not only a fantastic nurse but also an amazing human in general. She treats everyone with kindness. While working with her, I've heard nothing but positive feedback from patients and their families about the high level of care she provides and the comfort she brings to a difficult situation.
