I am nominating Melissa because she was such an amazing nurse. I had a total Left hip replacement recently. Being a patient is always so difficult, especially for myself. As I have been a critical care nurse for past 23 yrs, and it is always hard to suddenly be a patient and I personally hate ringing the call bell, unless absolutely necessary.. I always feel bad. From the time I arrived at the unit, which was around 8pm, Melissa was kind, attentive, and patient, and I honestly would have never known she had probably had 4 or 5 other patients. Every time she came in, she not only performed her nursing duties but went above and beyond to fill my ice packs and my water and made sure everything was within reach. Her time management skills were outstanding. We had a plan for pain meds, and she always arrived at the exact time. But most of all, she made my experience absolutely amazing. Even after her shift ended, she came in to say goodbye and make sure there was nothing else I needed before she left. She then gave me a big hug. I have to say I have been a patient a few times, but out of all of my experiences, this one was the best. Thank you, Melissa, for being so wonderful and taking such amazing care of me! Keep up the amazing work... it is so wonderful to see such dedication and hard work in the new, younger generation of nurses!
