Last Friday, I had to have back surgery. I experienced many tears: tears of joy that my pain would be gone, but more tears of fear that my spine was being operated on. I was in extreme pain as Shelby entered my room. Shelby was kind and empathetic as she analyzed my situation, took my vitals, and administered medication. She understood my pain and anxiety and immediately put me at ease. I went into surgery in a calm manner because of Shelby. After surgery, I woke up to Shelby at my side. Again, I was in great pain from the surgery. Shelby administered more medication with a comforting smile, and I was at ease. I am thankful for all the nurses who helped me through my surgery, but Shelby stood out as she was by my side through it all. Thank you, Shelby, for all you did! For that, I am forever thankful.
