RaeAnn explained the situation to me later, clearly stating how nervous/anxious/scared my wife was. It brought me to tears knowing I wasn’t there for her, but it did bring me some comfort knowing that RaeAnn was.
My wife and I came in to have our baby. RaeAnn was our nurse. She was there for us throughout the entire process and when my wife had to go for an unplanned c-section, she was there to comfort me. She was also in the operating room with my wife, as I was unable to be. She held her close and advocated for her when my wife’s spinal injection went high, and she lost the ability to move and breathe. My wife was extremely frightened and reported she couldn’t breathe. RaeAnn spoke up for her and gave her the physical support to sit at the edge of the bed, comforting her through this traumatic scenario. RaeAnn explained the situation to me later, clearly stating how nervous/anxious/scared my wife was. It brought me to tears knowing I wasn’t there for her, but it did bring me some comfort knowing that RaeAnn was. After the c-section, my wife had to go to PACU to be monitored. This was my wife’s worst fear as she wanted so badly to be the one to hold our baby for the first time. I knew this wasn’t how our delivery was supposed to go. However, through it all, RaeAnn was there to comfort me and offer her emotional support as I was a mess. She did an incredible job taking care of both my wife and me. This is part of the reason why I can rest easier when I reflect on the situation. We love her and consider ourselves lucky to have had such an empathetic and understanding nurse.
