Christina Bates provided amazing care to my husband during his last days of life. I have never experienced the level of care that Christina introduced us to. She is an amazing human being. She is kind, compassionate, gentle, and caring towards the patient and their family. However, when things need to get done, she is a go-getter in making sure that things do get done! Christina set alarms on her phone so that the IV pump wouldn't beep because she knew that created anxiety for my husband. She made sure that the pharmacy always had his pain meds sent up before the IV pump ran out. She took extra care to make sure my husband was not in any pain during his transfer from ICU to another floor. She even helped with the transport to assist all of us with the transition, making sure to watch my husband's face to make sure he wasn't in any pain. She provided outstanding care for us, his family, while we were caring for him. She made sure that we had plenty to drink and eat, and just made us feel like she would do anything for us to make our stay easier. She always took the time to answer any questions we had and made sure extra chairs and blankets were available for our family. Christina also knew how to read my husband's facial expressions to know when to adjust his pain meds or how frequently he needed them. She made sure he was never in pain and was completely comfortable during the stay. The level of respect, compassion, and genuine kindness that Christina displays is definitely head and shoulders above anything I've ever experienced. It is because of this high level of service that I feel she is so deserving of this award. Any nurse can come in and administer pain meds and check off the boxes on their to do list. Christina did this but also made a profound and lasting difference in all of our lives. She didn't have to provide the level of care that she did, but it is this inner desire of hers to make a difference in patients and families that makes her so deserving of this award. She made a difference in our lives that I will never, ever forget! My family and I will be forever thankful for everything that she did to help make our stay, and my husband's final days, easier. She is a shining star in your nursing staff and should be rewarded for her amazing talents and her desire to provide nothing less than exceptional customer service and care 100% of the time. She is positive, upbeat, so AMAZING and is incredibly deserving of this reward as a small token of thanks for the way she provides phenomenal patient-centered care that considers the physical and mental health of not only the patient, but the family.
