Sara and Gretchen performed very well in child health clinical as caring students but one particular incident really stood out. They were taking care of a young child who was blind and very anxious in the hospital, and so were the parents. Sara and Gretchen walked into the room and immediately asked the parents how best to address and approach the child. Both parents were taken aback by this because, as they told me, "no one has ever asked us this question to truly know how to approach her." The parents both could not stop saying how impressed they were and how thankful they were for how Sara and Gretchen treated their child. As an instructor, to see this empathy displayed in the very first weeks of clinical child health shows how both of these students model the core values of LSU Nursing.
