I feel like I was AJ's only patient. He made sure I had everything I needed, checked on me regularly, and all around made this as pleasant as possible for a trip to the ER.
Before AJ walked in I was crying. He had no knowledge of what was going on, and when he and his assistant started my IV, he made me forget what I was even crying about. He is so funny and has such a calming aura that it makes it extremely hard to be depressed and sad around him. I'm very grateful to have him as a nurse while I was a patient. Thank you for making my visit worth waiting for!

I couldn't hear out my right ear, AJ did a wonderful job.

My 84-year-old mom came in with back and abdominal pain. The nurses were very kind and considerate and tried to comfort my mom. She could not lay flat for a CT scan, but they never came up. After some meds given and a little wait they were eventually able to get her where she needed to be and the scan was a success. They were gentle. Everyone was great. Thank you.

I recently was diagnosed with a kidney stone, and it was a painful experience and new situation. I live in N.C ad was seen at my local E.R. They tried their best, but it was hours just getting into a room and getting something for the pain. They did my CT and then at 5 hours I had some relief. So, then I was told I had passed the stone 2 weeks later after a 2nd CT was done. Imagine my surprise when I came to Richmond for a show this weekend and I was struck with terrible pain and vomiting. I had been given the "all clear", yet it feels just like when I first went to the ER with my kidney stone.

So now I'm in Virginia and I don't know why I was in pain again and didn't have a clue where I should go to get help. How do I choose an E.R. in a strange town and I was understandably concerned. I was waiting hours in pain again in an open area with other patients yelling and who knows what care I would receive. However, I have never had such caring, knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate caregivers to me. From the start, AJ, my nurse, was able to reassure me along with Dr. S that they would get answers for me and make sure I was made comfortable, and they would do everything possible to help me. I know how busy the E.R. can get. I feel like I was AJ's only patient. He made sure I had everything I needed, checked on me regularly, and all around made this as pleasant as possible for a trip to the ER. I wish I could take him home with me. He has clearly found his calling from his care of patients, his interaction with other staff and I witnessed him helping a nurse in training. He was very patient and reassuring and professional with her as well. I don’t know as I leave the ER how to say how much I appreciated AJ. You can’t pay people to care, he just has a gift.
