Rhonda's compassion and empathy, as well as her open, warm, and caring demeanor, let this patient know that we honestly care for her as a person and desire only the very best for her.
Rhonda takes the time to make patients feel welcomed and respected. This sets a positive tone for the entire encounter and allows patients to really open up and allows the real issues to be addressed.

Rhonda is engaged in the patient care to ensure that all issues get addressed. She ensures that follow up Labs, radiographs, referrals are done and that patients are not encountering undue hurdles. She will frequently come to the providers and let us know that the patient has checked in for one issue but has other issues that should be discussed and allows for honest conversations to be had.

Rhonda displays every one of the core values every day. She sets the standard for others to follow in her nursing care. Hospitality is evident from greeting the patients until the patients take a special detour to thank Rhonda for being so wonderful to them. Respect is shown to every patient, honoring them for choosing Essentia Health and our Walk-in services or their care. Joy follows Rhonda around like a happy puppy. It's very hard to be unhappy around her. Rhonda is a good steward of the resources and time of the staff while ensuring top quality care. Justice can be seen in the efforts to cross social, economic, or other barriers to get patients the care they need. And Teamwork is an effortless flow when you are working with someone like Rhonda.

Recently a young lady came to us with the very difficult Chief Complaint of Eating issues. This turned out to be a struggle with Anorexia Nervosa. This is her initial diagnosis, and Rhonda's compassion and empathy, as well as her open, warm, and caring demeanor, let this patient know that we honestly care for her as a person and desire only the very best for her. This is not a routine acute illness like an ear infection or strep throat... this is a moment to change a life for the better, and Rhonda took the time and dedicated herself to doing everything she could to help this person in need. If this were another person, I am not sure this encounter would have been as open and supportive as the patient is justifiably cautious about addressing these most intimate and personal issues.
