I have worked with Kristen for approximately 5 months. In that short time frame, I have witnessed her consistently promote and demonstrate the most courteous and dedicated care for Veterans. There are so many situations that come to mind because she truly does go above and beyond in her devotion to all of the Veterans. Today for instance, for an incapacitated Veteran and his caregiver, Kristen was tirelessly coordinating between 3 clinics with both, providers and MSAs to ensure their future visit would be a smooth transition from one appointment to the next all on one day to help alleviate that caregiver role-strain and the frequent schedule interruptions and transportation difficulties for that veteran and caregiver. That is just one quick direct extra step example. This in itself is something overlooked by many, but Kristen is always watching for the consideration and efficiency associated with Veteran care. She goes the extra mile for her patients regarding surgical appointment and DME scheduling, if ever a patient is without Physical therapy appointments or crutches or whatever may have not been ordered by someone during the Surgical request/schedule, you will find Kristen quietly behind the scenes calling in every resource she can to fix the error to ensure the proper mobility and healing support is in place. She is always scrubbing the schedule ahead which is her job but ensuring a personal call to patients that may have difficulty remembering what is required not to mention following behind others and ensuring all orders are indeed placed to prevent veterans coming in and not having a productive appointment. Her interaction with all patients is genuine and personable. I have worked with many nurses in various areas of nursing, so when I say she is truly compassionate in her care, I cannot emphasize it enough. She is never absent without a legitimate cause and does not call in sick. She is willing to help each and every nurse in anyway her knowledge will allow her without bias. This nurse truly does deserve recognition for each day coming in and keeps her full heart and care focused on treating all she encounters with consideration. She is truly a nurse and team member you can count on and that is a priceless find in itself.
