I already knew the risks that could come along with trying this type of birth. God put Alisha in my room for this exact reason.
If Alisha was not our nurse the day I delivered, our baby, my sweet strong beautiful girl and I may not have survived the traumatic birthing experience we had. She literally saved our lives. Coming in as a new patient trying to have a VBA2C, I already knew the risks that could come along with trying this type of birth. God put Alisha in my room for this exact reason. Labor was going great, and she monitored me vigorously. My contractions started getting really strong and she came into the room to turn my Pitocin down. I looked at my husband at that moment and said, "Something is wrong"; I need meds now." Alisha came running in due to the fact that she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat on the monitor. She acted fast, she started flipping me and doing everything she could to find the heartbeat. She said, "I need you to go to the other side", I told her I couldn't I was having a contraction, and she was very calm and, in a firm, but concerned voice said to turn now, I cannot find the heartbeat. Next thing I knew she was ripping everything off of me. It felt like a million people were coming in. She stayed with me the entire time. She was calm. Next thing I knew I had a mask on my face, and she was the last person I saw. When I woke up, I didn't know what had happened. I had a uterine rupture, and if Alisha had not been there to recognize the signs, me or my baby would not have made it out of the hospital alive. I will spend all of the rest of my days thanking God for putting Alisha in our lives. She is the most amazing nurse, and human God could have placed for us in this situation. Thank you, Alisha.
