Had it not been for Nancy’s astute attention and care, it could have turned into a much more difficult situation.
Our daughter was born with a rare condition that required her to be transferred to the NICU at Golisano Children’s Hospital when she was 12 hours old and to have major surgery the following day. Nancy was the first nurse our daughter had in the NICU and ended up being her primary nurse, which we will be forever grateful for. I will never forget walking onto the unit and Nancy welcoming us with such love and kindness - we knew immediately that our daughter was in the best hands. From day one, Nancy went above and beyond for our daughter and for our family. She took such amazing care of our daughter and treated her with love and compassion. She always took the time to explain everything to us and made sure that our questions were answered. She was a huge advocate for our daughter and for our family. From the first day on the unit to taking care of her after surgery, to helping her thrive and grow, Nancy was there every step of the way. She supported me with pumping when our daughter was unable to eat, included us in her everyday care, and always updated us if we weren’t able to be there with our daughter. One week in the NICU, our daughter had been doing so well but all of a sudden was unable to eat. Nancy immediately recognized that something was wrong, and because of her quick action, her team determined that her esophagus was closing up. Had it not been for Nancy’s astute attention and care, it could have turned into a much more difficult situation. Nancy provided us with such comfort during a very stressful and emotional time. She took incredible care of our daughter and she has become like family to us. Nancy is an excellent nurse and we are so thankful for all that she has done and continues to do for our daughter and for our family.
