I feel in my heart that Gavin saved my life that night. This opinion is backed up by my personal experience, as well as more than one doctor telling me that this was a very potentially fatal event.
I am a metastatic kidney cancer patient and a retired Firefighter/Paramedic. I went to the ER at St. Lukes Hospital, Boise due to high fever and low B/P. Within a day or so, I was transferred to MICU due to some of the medications required for my treatment. On Tuesday night, my nurse, Gavin, detected some runs of A-fib, followed shortly after by dropping B/P and increasing heart rate. Next thing I knew, there was a full team outside my door. Gavin had put a team together in a very short time to deal with it. He had Echo cardiograph standing by if needed. Very calmly but quickly, Gavin and the team began treating the A-fib, the B/P, and the heart rate. I feel in my heart that Gavin saved my life that night. This opinion is backed up by my personal experience, as well as more than one doctor telling me that this was a very potentially fatal event. I will forever be grateful for Gavin’s calm leadership, as well as his medical skills. Putting those two things together gave Gavin every chance of success, in my opinion. Gavin, thank you! I will forever be convinced that you saved my life!
