Just like any day as a nurse, you never know what kind of day you’re going to have. Rachelle came into work early one day due to short staffing and having her orientee come in at 0700 and took care of a full-term intrauterine fetal demise patient with such grace, respect, and strength. I was in awe. I truly don’t know how a person can care for such an emotionally upsetting patient while teaching and caring for her orientee's feelings as well. In addition to this, she is always the first one to advocate for any single patient. She is currently organizing a multidisciplinary team of professionals to make a plan of care and prepare a patient who has the cognitive ability of a preschooler. She just constantly goes out of her way to care for every patient as if they were her sister. She is the most generous, caring, and sympathetic person I’ve ever worked with. She is the definition of an Extraordinary Nurse.
