I know I'm not only speaking for myself when I say that we are blessed to have her kind heart on our team and caring for our patients.
As many of you wholeheartedly understand, hospice care is just as much about family as it is about our patients. In the beginning of hospice care, most of the focus is directed towards supporting our patients emotionally, and then as things progress, our focus is redirected to the family. We are educating, guiding, and comforting them on many different levels. We have this one fantastic nurse on our team that NEVER gives herself enough credit and often goes home at night and cries because she wears her heart on her sleeve. We had a patient recently that was one of the hardest, most challenging admissions for this nurse. However, she threw on a fake confidence and went to the admission without letting the team know how much she was truly hurting and struggling inside.
I've attached a photograph that a family member took of her and the patient's big sister. This photo screams so many different things to me. The most important thing that I see is Karissa is not in a hurry. She cares and comforts everyone and she takes a family approach from day one, in all situations. I know I'm not only speaking for myself when I say that we are blessed to have her kind heart on our team and caring for our patients. Thanks for all of the care you provide!
