She is consistently advocating for her patients and courageously caring for them, never afraid to question a concerning symptom, diagnostic result, orders, and similar patient concerns.
I am nominating a nurse who has gifted her patients with a stalwart career. She has assisted with the care, management and births of hundreds of babies and given amazing care to the moms and families also.
Kate started her nursing career as a certified nurse midwife and continued caring for hundreds of families throughout her time as an RN. She is consistently advocating for her patients and courageously caring for them, never afraid to question a concerning symptom, diagnostic result, orders, and similar patient concerns.
She recently brought to the attention of medical staff a newborn that had started to present symptoms of decompensation. This baby was transferred and later had heart surgery due to Kate's excellent clinical assessment and communication with the newborn provider.
She continues to mentor new nurses with her years of wisdom and has frequently done so in her “no-nonsense manner.”
It is with great admiration that I recommend this very deserving nurse for the DAISY Award. It is time to give back to this nurse who has given her all throughout a very remarkable lifetime.
