I want to recognize Jesse for his outstanding care of a recent multilevel trauma patient. Although this experience was truly amazing to witness, Jesse more often than not goes above and beyond for his patients. I was working with Jesse to care for one of the worst traumas I've encountered in the seven years I've been in the ED. The patient required the highest level of care, and Jesse delivered it seamlessly. Jesse managed multiple priorities at the same time to keep this patient alive. He ran the Belmont, dispensing 24 units of blood products to this patient, inserted multiple IVs for medications, set up suction for bilateral chest tubes, and medicated the patient to prepare for intubation. This resuscitation took over four hours, and Jesse kept laser focus the entire time, never being distracted by the chaos in the room. He was gentle in his demeanor when communicating with the patient and direct and professional when communicating with the care team. He stayed late after his shift to help care for this patient, even though he has over an hour drive home. Jesse demonstrated the highest level of excellence and patient centered care throughout this entire horrific experience. I am inspired by his work ethic every day.
