He came in, sat down beside her, held her hand, and spoke so kindly to her. Showing true compassion and care for her.
My Mom started her journey of liver failure with several trips to the Marion General Emergency Department. Her story began in October 2022. Her first trip to the Emergency department was in October 2022. On that first visit, where she would be admitted for bleeding varices, Jeremiah was her nurse. He was so kind, understanding, and patient. As soon as he realized I was using humor with Mom, joking around to keep her spirits up. He would joke around with Mom and me. Using humor to help her get through the rough experiences that come along with a trip to the ED. Various tests and the long wait. He would always come back by the room just to make sure she was ok, and neither of us needed anything. Jeremiah would see me in the hallway and stop to make sure Mom was ok, constantly reassuring me everything would be ok. We had Jeremiah as her nurse on various trips to the ED. I always knew if he was her nurse, she was going to be taken care of. On her next to last trip to the hospital, she had a different nurse. Jeremiah had stopped at Mom's room to ask her nurse a question. I said hi to him. Once he realized it was my Mom in the room, he came in, sat down beside her, held her hand, and spoke so kindly to her. Showing true compassion and care for her. I can't really put into words what that meant to me. For him to take the time out of his busy day. He truly made a huge difference in our experiences at Marion General Hospital. He was truly a light in a very dark time. He is a very caring and amazing nurse who makes the hospital a better place.
