Our son J has been a patient in the PICU for 50+ days. Elisha has been his day shift nurse 10+ of these days. She treats J with so much dignity, love and compassion but more importantly, she sees his potential to improve and pushes him to do so. He was intubated for over 30 days. He needs a lot of PT/OT to rebuild his strength. She decided he needed to see the world outside his ICU room, so she got him up into a wheelchair and out to the windows. Now this is the highlight of his day, knowing that life goes on outside of here. She made it possible for us to get him into the chair and roll to a large window so he could see the 50+ people (his friends and family) that came to surprise him and cheer for him from outside for his b-day. Her care for J's mental health has been just as important as his physical health.
