Marlayna goes above and beyond for her patients every day in the ED – she knows everyone in the community, it seems, and is always filling in big picture details about a patient's home or family or other important information that allows the ED team to provide more patient-centered care that matches the patient's goals or needs.

Marlayna brings joy to her patients in the ED with connection – she has an easy way of connecting with many kinds of patients and makes patients feel safe and comfortable in the ED. With her diverse background of experience in the healthcare setting, she is really able to set patients at ease by helping them understand what their next steps will be and what to expect.

An elderly ER patient did not have a ride home, and Marlayna offered the patient a ride home. She set up his tablet charging and ensured he had everything he needed for bed ready, including his CPAP and a glass of water! She did all this after her shift and even came back to the ER to bring back the walker. She always goes above and beyond for her patients.
