She builds people up, whether it's through the study guides, tutoring, study sessions she runs, or if she's just checking in to see how you are doing. She is selfless. To be a good leader, you build that kind of trust from the bottom up, and that's exactly what she has done with us.
Kelsey is one of the most passionate people I know about learning in the profession of nursing. She not only forms such genuine relationships with her patients, but she is also committed to learning everything she can as well as teaching her peers at the same time. She makes these amazing study guides that she pours her heart and soul into. Additionally, she has formed a study group and actually teaches the study guides to our peers and spends as much time as needed on a subject if someone is struggling.
Kelsey is a leader. She makes other students feel confident and cared for, not only in nursing but in our personal lives. She builds people up, whether it's through the study guides, tutoring, study sessions she runs, or if she's just checking in to see how you are doing. She is selfless. To be a good leader, you build that kind of trust from the bottom up, and that's exactly what she has done with us. She is in the trenches with us, going above and beyond to make sure we are all ok emotionally, physically, and academically. I am so excited to see the type of nurse she is going to become because she is going to touch lives in such a unique way, and patients are going to be lucky to have her.

As many have in the nursing profession, Kelsey has been on the giving and receiving end of nursing. Personally, she has witnessed first-hand how families are affected and influenced by the care they receive, and these experiences make her a confident and careful nurse. Further, I believe these experiences allow her to connect so well with patients and help them in ways that others may not, or cannot, understand. Kelsey works hard to learn and absorb all that she can in the classroom, and I have had the honor of watching her take these lessons and apply them. She is always passionate in her drive to learn more, be more, and do more. In the classroom, we as students must memorize the process of treatments for patients in exams, assignments, and more. Kelsey always digs deeper to ask and know the 'why' in everything; she is truly inspirational.
In the future, Kelsey aspires to teach and practice nursing. I cannot think of someone better suited. Upon learning of this award, I sat with my entire study group who unanimously thought of Kelsey, as we could not think of anyone more deserving. Kelsey is a natural leader and I have had the pleasure of watching firsthand how she continues to build on these skills.
