Ashley is known for being a nurse who goes above and beyond on a regular basis. She has excellent care coordination and patient advocacy skills. Howver, for this particular patient, Ashley utilized all of these skills simultaneously to create a beautiful moment for a patient and his family. 

This adult patient was admitted to the Surgical Unit on palliative care. Despite Ashley's very busy assignment, Ashley took the time to sit down with the patient's wife to discuss what her requests wre for her husband. His wife then went on to say that since his admission, he had not had a full bath and that it would mean a lot to her if Ashley would do one. So, Ashley gave the patient pain medications to ensure he would tolerate so much movement in bed, and then proceeded to not just give him a wipe down, but truly pour water on the patient to ensure a full bath experience for him. She talked with him about his son and about the Mariners (a team which he was very fond of!). She kept a very calm, nurturing, compassionate demeanor the entire time. She also ensured he had proper oral care and dressed the patient as he requested to be dressed. The patient, who was not very verbal, said "thank you so much!". The family was beyond touched by Ashley's compassion for him and his entire family. During this time, Ashley also questioned an abnormally large dose of medication she was very unfamiliar with. She "stopped the line", discussed the possible reasons with the patient's wife and with the pharmacist. Ashley had caught a med that was ordered three times too high!

Ashley continues to impress and inspire her co-workers and touch the lives of so many patients and families during their most vulnerable and trying times in their lives. 

This was just one example illustrating why Ashley is the epitome of a DAISY Nurse!
