He is the epitome of ‘service before self.’ Most days, I wonder how this guy does it because he just keeps going!
Every single day that Robert comes to work, he is early and ready to hit the ground running. He starts to gather information on what patients are on the unit and what is going on to see how he can help. This is even before he finds out his assignment for the day. He is on his feet all day long, rounding on patients and helping with newborn screens, blood sugar, baby baths, vitals, pulling medications, lab draws, gathering supplies, setting up delivery tables, and much more. As an RN, I am very appreciative of all the help Robert gives me every day. When he is my baby nurse in the operating room or during recovery, he makes sure all newborn tasks are complete and is quick to notify me of any concerns that he observes with the infant. He is very dependable, and I don’t have to check behind him to make sure everything is taken care of. Robert walks around the unit when all his tasks are done to ask every single person if they need help with anything. He never says he’s too busy to help anyone. He goes out of his way each day to provide outstanding patient care and never complains. He is the epitome of ‘service before self.’ Most days, I wonder how this guy does it because he just keeps going! To be honest, I have never seen this guy take a break and relax to put his feet up. Robert is motivated and dedicated and provides excellent care to patients and all his coworkers. He is the hardest-working person in our unit! I nominated him for the DAISY Award and there are many other nurses on our unit that second that nomination.
