Marty in CSSU was exceptional. While she was precise and very caring when it came to my husband's care, she went one step further to make her stand out above the rest. You see, my husband had been in the hospital 12 days for a triple bypass, shocking to the heart, and ablation. All the nurses and doctors were wonderful, obviously very knowledgeable in their ability to care for my husband, Marty was too. However, my husband had not been outside the hospital the whole time. He and I were standing by the window, looking out at the beautiful day. Marty was in the room and overheard him say he wished he could go outside. Marty immediately asked him would he like to go if the surgeon approved. Of course, he said yes. After obtaining permission, she took time out of her busy schedule to wheel him outside for about 5 minutes or so. This kind of compassion is rare, and we appreciate her more than we can say. Other nurses and doctors could learn a valuable lesson from her. There is more to helping someone heal than just doing what is required. Her love for her patients is a healing agent, too!
