Erica was so attentive to him and showed us such kindness and compassion.
My brother was admitted to BIDMC after he had a cardiac arrest. He was put into a medically induced coma while the team at BIDMC tried to figure out what/why this happened. He is a 37-year-old, healthy person who has run a marathon. He has two small daughters at home. This was an incredibly stressful time for my family and we were blown away by the kindness and compassion from so many of the nurses.
Erica Fontes was my brother's nurse during one of the more challenging and stressful days. We were waiting for him to get his brain MRI results we were all anxiously and frightfully awaiting. Erica was so attentive to him and showed us such kindness and compassion. Taking the time to ask how we were doing, ask about our mom who had passed away, and explain all of the medical jargon we didn’t understand. Erica lives in RI and has 2 little kids, but stayed well past her shift to bring my brother back up from his MRI and make sure he was all set. She also came to visit us on the floor, and explained more about his ICD, limitations, and other helpful information that we just didn’t know to ask. When my sister-in-law and I saw her on the floor, we both just started crying. Such a special person. She truly went above and beyond for our family, and we are so thankful for her.
