Rebecca advocated and pushed for what was in the best interest of the child.
I work for DCFS and was called to the hospital with a coworker for a 2-year-old who had tested positive for opiates and had to be given Narcan. The child stabilized and was discharged. My coworker and I took the child to our office and less than 45 minutes later we had to call the child an ambulance due to him becoming lethargic, vomiting, and not acting right. When we returned to the ER, Rebecca was very concerned by the child’s behavior and thought something wasn’t right. Rebecca said she was going to do whatever it took to make sure the child was monitored further. Rebecca realized Poison Control had not been contacted. Poison Control told her that because they did not know what kind of opiate the child had taken, they recommended he be admitted. Rebecca did not back down even when the doctor was not in agreement at first. She advocated and pushed for what was in the best interest of the child, even though the doctor was not initially in agreement. She was kind and compassionate towards the child, myself, and my coworker. She also was committed to doing what was best for the child.
