But all the above is not what makes Nurse Tracy unforgettable. It was her empathy, kindness, and the way she prepared me for the passing of my Dad.
The first time she visited my Dad, she called me, introduced herself, and told me what medications she was stopping and why, what current concerns my Dad had, and how long she would be caring for him. I was blown away by the details of her update, and I knew my Dad was in great hands.

From that day, Nurse Tracy became an important part of my Dad's and my lives. Every visit was followed by a call or detailed text, and if I had any questions or concerns, I knew I could call or text and a timely response was a guarantee.

But all the above is not what makes Nurse Tracy unforgettable. It was her empathy, kindness, and the way she prepared me for the passing of my Dad.

As his condition deteriorated, she visited every day, even when she was not the one assigned to. Each visit, she would spend as much time as I needed to answer any questions, to give me a hug, and to share comforting words. Nurse Tracy was there up to the last day. Early that morning with the knowledge that the end was close, she text me: “Dad is still with us. I will call in a minute.” This was her way of being kind and empathetic, knowing what she had to say could not be done with a text. I came by shortly after and was with my Dad for a few hours and then he passed, within minutes Nurse Tracy was by my side.

It has been said, “People come in your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” Nurse Tracy came in my life for a reason, to help me face the hardest thing I have ever done, watching my Dad pass. Words cannot express the pain, agony, and sadness I went through over the last month of my Dad’s life, but I know without Nurse Tracy, it would have been so much worse. The last 2 weeks I could count on seeing her or getting a daily update. She provided everything my Dad needed and was there for me. She has checked on me over the past three months since his passing. HPH Chapters is so fortunate to have someone of her caliber to represent them. Nurse Tracy is an asset to their wonderful organization and a blessing to me. Whenever I count my blessings, she will always be on my list.
