Kendra has been a nurse for less than two years, and her compassion and desire to provide the best care is evident in all she does with each patient interaction.
Kendra is an incredible nurse and a wonderful human. She was leaving work on Friday, and as she was walking through the skywalk, she noticed two men pushing a man in a wheelchair, rushing toward her, yelling that he was diabetic. She did a quick assessment as he was coming near and felt that he was in need of emergency help. She stopped the man and helped the patient down to the floor and on his side as she was worried that his airway was at risk.
She quickly activated the Rapid Response Team from her cell phone and stayed with the patient until they arrived - all this time assessing and making sure his airway was maintained. When the RRT arrived, she stayed and recorded in the notes section of her phone and was able to share that info with the team so that they could document it in EPIC.
Kendra has been a nurse for less than two years, and her compassion and desire to provide the best care is evident in all she does with each patient interaction. It is not her style to turn her head away from any situation in which she can offer help. Her quick action and activation of the RRT saved this patient’s life. They were quickly able to administer Narcan and reverse the symptoms he was experiencing and then safely transported him to the ED. We are so proud of her and what she did, and it is an honor to work with someone who cares as much as she does!
