He was so patient with me, kind to me, and understanding. He also gave me space to ask questions that I may have had about the processes.
My husband was admitted to Novant Health in August due to having an infection from a catheter put in during a back surgery earlier that month.  He was placed in a room on the third floor of your hospital, where he met numerous nurses that would come in and out to attend to his needs, but there was one male nurse (his name was Tony Stewart) who stood out from all the rest with his mannerisms and most of all his rapport with my husband and the entire family.

It was like he could sense and feel that everyone was concerned about what was going on with my husband and what was being done for him as care. Tony had the ability to explain things to us, which calmed us down and put us all at ease.

I found myself becoming upset and very overwhelmed once I learned what I would be facing when my husband was discharged. I'm no nurse, so being told that I would now be responsible for the cleaning & care of the day/night catheters made me nervous. Tony saw my tears and could tell how overwhelmed I was about being put in that position of care for my husband. He took time out of his busy workdays to show me step by step how to clean and change the catheter correctly from day to night.

He was so patient with me, kind to me, and understanding. He also gave me space to ask questions that I may have had about the processes. There is no way I could have made it through all of this without his calming voice, rapport, and helpful instructions.

Both my husband & I feel that he is a representation of the Grace of God that was sent to us during our hospital stay. He is an outstanding nurse; any hospital would be proud to have him on its staff!
